1390 kilometers and over 14,000 meters of altitude due to the relentless summer heat of the American southwest - in three days. That was the incredible race of the Danish cyclist Eva Synnestvedt Hansen.
The Race Across The West is a street race in which the participants start in Oceanside, California and drive to Durango in Colorado without a break. You have to drive 1390 km through California, Arizona, Utah and Colorado and cross two deserts. In this way, over 14,000 meters of altitude must be mastered.
The Danish Eva Synnestvedt Hansen, who had prepared for this race for over 2.5 years and now lives and trains not far from the Supernova company headquarters in Freiburg im Breisgau, won this long distance race in the overall women with a clear lead after 3 days and 4 hours . It was catered for by a small but highly committed team from 3 helpers. Due to the enormous heat, the race was so hard this year that 2/3 of all participants had to give up.Eva drank 8.5 liters a day, but lost about 3 kilos during the race. She came through the desert so well through the desert - sprayed every 500 m from her tireless helpers with water that she was awarded the special price "Queen of the Desert".
