WANT TO COMMUTE? HOW TO DO IT #1

08/04/2022

8. April 2022

Pandemic, climate change, energy crisis, and inflation: Currently, there are many reasons to consider alternative forms of transportation. Spring is just around the corner, and we all know that exercise increases general well-being. If this isn't enough to get you going, you might find some inspiration here to take action. Most of our employees already commute to work by bike. In our new blog series, they show you how they prepare for their daily outdoor adventures.

Matthias, 40 years old, OEM Sales Manager

Why do you commute by bike? What is the biggest advantage for you?

It combines going to work with training, keeps you fit, saves money, and is usually fun.

How long is your commute, and what does the route profile look like?

About 1 hour / 27 km, flat and mostly on trails.

What kind of bike do you ride?

Dry and sunny: Scott Foil 10 Disc 2019. Wet and blah: Rondo Ruut AL 2018.

Do you ride in winter or in bad weather?

I ride in winter. However, I only ride in the rain if I'm on my way home. If it already rains in the morning, I don't go by bike.

What's essential equipment in the various seasons?

In winter: Warm clothing, a good profile, mudguards, and good Supernova lights (does motivation count? 😉) In summer: Light and airy clothes and something to drink.

What else do you carry with you?

Garmin, cash/credit card, cell phone, Cliff bar, tools, spare tube, bicycle pump, and emergency toilet paper 😊.

Which Supernova light do you prefer to use?

I have an Airstream and an M99 Mini Pro B54. I especially enjoy riding with the B54.

What tip do you have for someone who wants to commute by bike?

"Never surrender."

A particular highlight for SUPERNOVA commuters is the yearly CITY CYCLING campaign, which involves 21 days of extra pedaling. This campaign draws attention to mobility beyond combustion engines. Each time, we have insane kilometer battles within our teams. That's a reason why SUPERNOVA is consistently at the top of the CITY CYCLING rankings for our municipality and beyond. 😃
