Why do you commute by bike and what is the biggest advantage for you?

Because I'm faster, avoid traffic jams, it's more enjoyable, I get my daily exercise done, and it's good for the environment.

I've been cycling everything since I was 7 years old. I couldn't imagine anything else.

How long is your route and what is the terrain like?

I simply ride 17 km. Start at 600m, destination at 240m. An elevation difference of 400m each way.

What kind of bike do you ride?

Mostly a cargo bike, a Riese and Müller Load 75 with a dual battery. With the dual battery, I can easily drop off my son at school on the way and run errands on the return trip.

Do you ride in winter or bad weather?

I ride all the time!

What essential equipment should not be missing

Helmet, weather-resistant clothing, toolset, a small first aid kit.

What else do you carry with you?

Snacks, possibly spare clothes, laptop.

Which Supernova light do you own or prefer to use?

The M99 MINI PRO, a M99 TL, and for my road bike, a B54 MINI PRO B54.

What tips do you have for someone who wants to become a bike commuter soon?

You need good clothing. This is not an area to skimp on. If you're not up for the effort, consider getting an e-bike. Then there are practically no more excuses. Once you start, you will quickly recognize the many advantages. When I see the stressed faces of the car drivers stuck in traffic every morning, I am always convinced that I'm doing everything right.

A special highlight for our commuters is the annual STADTRADELN campaign, where we pedal extra hard for 21 days to raise awareness of mobility beyond combustion engines. Each time, crazy battles for kilometers ensue within the team. In the STADTRADELN rankings of the municipality and beyond, SUPERNOVA is always effortlessly at the top 😃.
